Agilent Technologies’ New Drive Test Measurements Speed Deployment, Cut Costs of LTE Networks

LTE Software Upgrade Enables Early Verification of Base-station Coverage, Testing of New, Existing Networks on a Single 8-Band Receiver

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 9, 2009 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced LTE Receiver Measurements as a software upgrade to its proven drive test platform, protecting customers’ previous investments in receiver hardware and offering multiple tests that accelerate deployment of LTE networks.

Network equipment manufacturers and wireless service providers can use the software on Agilent receivers to quickly verify base-station RF coverage, plot accurate coverage maps and validate planning, all of which speeds the deployment of LTE networks. The Agilent platform offers the most practical and least costly option for initial field testing, and reduces the need for a large number of far more expensive “rack-and-stack” test phones. The LTE drive test system is one of many Agilent “Measurement Solutions for a Mobile World” that it will demonstrate at Stand D45, Hall 1, at Mobile World Congress.

Since the Agilent drive test platform already supports all major established wireless technologies, a receiver with the software enhancement will not only measure LTE - P-SCH, S-SCH RSSI and LTE Cell-ID - but also provide simultaneous coverage of older 2G and 3G networks. Although LTE is the first truly global standard, it will co-exist with the earlier networks, and the enhanced platform enables simultaneous measurements of LTE and the existing technologies. An Agilent receiver can measure up to eight frequency bands - far more than competitive products - which eliminates the need to carry additional receivers into the field. The platform is the most flexible solution of its kind.

“Agilent receivers are an example of our company’s general strategy of developing hardware that can be enhanced with software as network technologies evolve,” said Todd Biddle, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Network Solutions Division. “This strategy cuts our customers’ capital investments over the long term and, in the case of LTE receiver measurements, it enables current owners of Agilent receivers to integrate LTE testing with tests of existing networks. This integration is a compelling reason to choose Agilent.”

U.S. Pricing and Availability

The Agilent E6474A-645 LTE Receiver Measurements will be available in March 2009. Prices vary with configuration.

electronic devices and communications equipment, today announced that it

has been awarded a $2.6 million, three-year contract by the Federal Aviation

Administration (FAA) to supply a custom featured version of the Company’s

Halcyon Universal Data Test Set to be installed as part of a multi-year, multi-

billion dollar program to upgrade communications technology in the nation’s

commercial and military aviation control networks.

EMRISE Chief Executive Officer Carmine T. Oliva said the contract provides

for an initial release of Test Sets valued at approximately $830,000, which

are scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2009. He also said the

Company expects to receive a subsequent release from the FAA, for delivery

later this year, of additional Halcyon Universal Data Test Sets valued at more

In Motion Technology Launches Unified Fleet and Mobile IT Management Platform

Vancouver, Canada, October 30, 2008 – In Motion Technology, the leader in mobile networking

technologies that efficiently connect and manage equipment, information and people in the

field, today announced the launch of its next‐generation onBoard Mobility Manager – a scalable

management platform that allows organizations to coordinate, track and troubleshoot vehicles,

devices, and mobile networks remotely and in real time.

The onBoard Mobility Manager continuously collects and analyzes information from vehicles

equipped with In Motion’s onBoard Mobile Gateway. The platform provides headquarters staff

with a virtual dashboard of information from the field and sends alerts based on pre‐set

thresholds. The Mobility Manager works with standard web‐browsers and displays detailed

information about vehicles, networks and devices on a three dimensional map.

“This is an indispensible tool for organizations with vehicles and personnel on the road,” said In

Motion Technology CEO Kirk Moir. “Our new, enhanced Mobility Manager suite provides

organizations with information to coordinate operations for peak efficiency, and frees them to

be more effective anywhere, any time.”

The enhanced onBoard Mobility Manager includes the following new management modules:

• onBoard Total Reach allows IT staff to remotely and securely “reach through” and

administer communications devices connected to onBoard Mobile Gateways without

taking vehicles or personnel off the road.

• onBoard Telemetry provides headquarters staff with real time information from the

field about vehicle operations. It enables fleet managers to monitor and receive alerts

triggered by pre‐set thresholds for gas mileage, operating hours, engine temperature,

fuel and coolant levels, idle times, speed and other functions. It enables organizations

to effectively schedule maintenance, reduce breakdowns and save money by monitoring

preposition vehicles to achieve the fastest response times and most efficient operations.

“In today’s fast‐paced world, people and organizations are constantly on the move. They need

access to instantaneous information, and communications tools that are reliable, cost effective

and easy to use,” said In Motion Technology CEO Kirk Moir. “The Mobility Manager gives

organizations the real‐time knowledge they need to manage their fleets as extensions of their

business, and operate at peak efficiency.”

More than 150 public organizations in North America are using In Motion Technology wireless

mobile communications systems to achieve better communications, more efficient operations,

and control costs.
