HICKORY, NC, March 23, 2009—For network designers, system installers and other in-building wireless professionals wishing to avoid costly and time-consuming design and installation mistakes, Andrew, the CommScope, Inc. division that is a global leader in wireless communication systems and products, introduces the Invex.NxG™ i.Walk™ complete in-building wireless testing solution.
The Invex.NxG i.Walk system includes everything needed for confirming the proper design and placement of in-building antenna or repeater systems prior to final installation, helping ensure optimal indoor wireless coverage. The i.Walk kit includes the following:
· Invex.NxG i.PC™ testing software with hardware key and supporting manuals on CD
· Invex.NxG i.Scan™ digital scanning receiver
· Invex.NxG i.Send™, the portable base station emulator that broadcasts RF signals indoors, with carrying case
· An optional touch screen palmtop with Invex.NxG i.PC software preloaded
Other products from Andrew’s extensive test and measurement portfolio can be added to this fully customizable solution.
“Anyone familiar with the frustration of completing an installation before realizing the design is wrong and needs to be fixed will understand the usefulness of Invex.NxG i.Walk,” said Andrew’s Colin Garrett, product manager, Test and Measurement Systems, Wireless Network Solutions. “i.Walk will not only help in avoiding design and installation errors, but also in optimizing in-building wireless coverage systems by ensuring the best antenna placement.”
Network designers can use i.Walk to conduct initial surveys of a building, detecting ambient RF interference and signal weak spots, which can then be accounted for in the system design. Using the Invex.NxG i.Walk consists mainly in connecting the i.Scan to the i.PC laptop and setting it to the desired frequency bands. The designer then walks through the building taking RF readings, the results of which are then logged with the building’s floor plan for analysis and design of the in-building coverage network. The i.Send transmitter can be used for temporarily transmitting RF signals inside the building, in imitation of expected signal levels and also to help with design.
Andrew is the only company offering a complete in-building testing solution that provides mobile operators and their RF engineers all the tools needed to survey a building’s RF environment.
The i.Walk is an extension of Andrew’s Invex.NxG drive-test system, formerly called Invex3G®, which enables wireless operators to view their own and their competitors’ wireless voice and data services from the perspective of the subscriber by providing critical quality-of-service (QoS) measurements. Invex.NxG identifies failed originations, abnormal ends, call setup time, and call quality for improving voice service levels. It also performs packet data testing for analyzing upload/download throughput speeds for data services. Invex.NxG can also be used by field personnel for independently checking network signal strength and identifying base station locations and sectors, assisting them in their jobs.
The Invex.NxG i.Walk test and measurement system for in-building networks complements Andrew’s industry leading coverage and capacity solutions, such as the ION™ fiber distributed antenna system, in providing operators and enterprises with the most complete solutions to providing optimum wireless coverage indoors.
Andrew will debut Invex.NxG i.Walk at its stand (Hall C4, Booth 7547) at the International CTIA WIRELESS 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 1 – 3, 2009.

Sinclair first introduced covert antennas in the 1950s when its engineers used side view mirrors to conceal the “Viewcom” antenna. The new SHA211 series of concealed bumper mount antennas is their latest offering in disguised antennas. These innovative disguised antennas (patent pending) are specifically designed to fit covert
vehicles of any size, make and model. Featuring a unique modular design that integrates all the components into a compact 2”x3” waterproof housing making it possible to install the antenna with minor modifications to the bumper. These antennas are universally mounted with simplicity and ease beneath the bumper cover
thereby totally concealing the antenna from sight. A fine tuning adjustment permits performance optimization during installation thus eliminating the need to cut cables. For more information visit: sinctech.com.
Arcata, CA — (March 17, 2009) — Carlson Wireless Technologies (CWT) announces it will be unveiling the LongHaul 4.9 public safety point-to-point microwave Ethernet radio at IWCE 2009, March 18-20 in Las Vegas. The LongHaul 4.9 is the latest release in the LongHaul™ radio family which includes radios in the unlicensed 2.4, 5.2, 5.4 and 5.8 GHz bands.
The LongHaul 4.9 was designed for CWT’s established public safety market and includes hardened components and software optimized for critical TDM and VoIP networks. The radio is powered by CWT’s next-generation SWiFT™ platform which provides a low fixed latency link that eliminates packet collisions or lost data during transmission. This allows the LongHaul™ to provide very high QoS for VoIP and security networks at distances beyond 80 miles.
“The SWiFT platform is a truly synchronous architecture that provides public safety agencies with the most cost effective and robust backhaul for both TDM and IP networks. Our radios are “distance immune,” said Chris Spoerle, Director of Customer Service. “The throughput of other microwave radios drops dramatically over a short distance, petering out after 30 miles. The LongHaul™ produces a consistent throughput of 32 Mb/s far beyond that.”
The LongHaul 4.9 includes integrated network and equipment monitoring allowing system managers to remotely keep an eye on internal temperature and power supply voltage. “This is extremely useful, especially for public safety,” said Spoerle. “A message is sent to you if an alarm condition is occurring. This way, you can address congestion, environmental and power issues before they cause an outage. In public safety networks, this is crucial.”
“We have a very loyal public safety customer base,” said Jim Carlson, CEO. “We understand that in current times everyone is very budget conscious. That is why we are proud to be able to provide our customers with such a high quality USA-made product that performs so well at great pricing.”
For over a decade Carlson Wireless has been providing TrueTDM™ and IP wireless communications solutions for large telecommunications projects, industry and public safety agencies to single telephone and data links. Carlson Wireless’ unique combination of their exclusive TrueTDM™. SWiFT™ combined with TCP/IP technology allows for perfect wireline quality for POTS, 4-wire E&M, T1, SCADA and IP for a variety of applications. For more information visit www.CarlsonWireless.com.
(Las Vegas, Nevada, March 18, 2009) — EADS Secure Networks North America has been chosen as the subcontractor for a Project 25 (P25) digital, trunked radio system to GE Transportation LLC in support of California’s Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District’s (District) new Advanced Communications and Information System (ACIS).
The District’s new ACIS will greatly enhance communications, and support numerous improvements for the security, safety and operational reliability of the mass transit system. Implementation of the $15.5 million project is scheduled to last two years.
“We are pleased to work with GE Transportation in providing the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District a new, digital radio communications platform to help ensure the safety and well-being of its mass transit customers,” said Steve Shanck, Executive Vice President-General Manager, EADS Secure Networks North America.
